When Mine Eyes Blacken was a New Zealand depressive black metal band formed in 2008 in Auckland by multi-instrumentalist Mort. Although active for only a short time, the project earned a strong reputation within the DSBM underground for its bleak atmosphere, minimalist approach and deeply melancholic themes of sorrow, death and solitude. The band's sole full-length album, When Mine Eyes Blacken (2009), is regarded as a cult release within the depressive black metal scene.
