Unleashed is one of the foundational pillars of the Swedish extreme scene, forming the legendary "Big Four" of Stockholm death metal alongside Entombed, Dismember, and Grave. Founded in 1989 by bassist and vocalist Johnny Hedlund following his departure from Nihilist, the band quickly forged their own distinct path. Unlike most of their peers who focused on gore and graveyard decay, Unleashed pioneered the fusion of brutal sonic assaults with Norse mythology, Viking history, and ancestral traditions.
