Treblinka is a Swedish black / death metal band formed in 1988 in Täby by vocalist and guitarist Johan Edlund (Lucifer Hellslaughter). The outfit holds a legendary cult status in the underground as one of the earliest and most influential forces of Swedish proto-death/black metal, before permanently changing their name to Tiamat in 1989. The band's sonic signature is defined by a brutal, raw, and cavernous sound: heavy old-school riffs, chaotic solos, sinister atmospheres, and primitive crushing energy. Conceptually and lyrically, the band was strictly dedicated to themes of Satanism, occultism, darkness, Sumerian mythology, and anti-Christianity.
