Saor is an atmospheric folk / black metal project from Scotland, formed in 2013 in Glasgow by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Andy Marshall (originally operating under the name Arsaidh). The act stands as one of the most prominent and influential forces in modern epic black metal. The project's sonic signature is defined by a majestic blend of soaring black metal riffs, uplifting melodies, and traditional Celtic folk instrumentation, including tin whistle, bagpipes, and fiddle. The project's concept and lyricism are strictly dedicated to Scottish history, heritage, poetry, majestic Highland landscapes, sorrowful nostalgia, and freedom.
