Sacrilege (Sweden) — a melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, founded in 1993 by drummer Daniel Svensson (later of In Flames) and guitarist Daniel Dinsdale. Their style reflected the Gothenburg melodic death metal sound. In 1995 they released the demo To Where Light Can’t Reach, followed by …and Autumn Failed in 1996. That same year, their debut album Lost in the Beauty You Slay was released on Black Sun Records, recorded at Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström. In 1997 they issued their second album The Fifth Season and toured Europe with The Crown. The band split in 1998 when Svensson joined In Flames. A brief reunion occurred in 2006–2007 under the name Sacrilege GBG, but the announced album A Matter of Dark was never released.
