Mordor is a Swiss underground project formed in 1990 in the city of Lausanne by members Scorh Anyroth and Dam Gomhory from the ashes of the black metal band Arög. The outfit stands as one of the definitive pioneers of experimental funeral doom metal, merging an ultra-slow tempo with ritual ambient, raw black metal, and industrial neoclassical elements. Instead of traditional full-length studio albums, the project achieved its cult status through early landmark releases that defined their bleak, abyssal soundscapes. The definitive works in the band's discography include the "Odes" demo (1990), the "Csejthe" demo (1992), and the "Dark Is the Future" EP (1994).
