Kampfar is a Norwegian black/viking metal band formed in 1994 in the city of Fredrikstad by vocalist Dolk. The band's concept is heavily inspired by Norwegian folklore, pagan mythology, and bleak northern nature. Their sonic output perfectly balances the raw, primal fury of classic black metal with epic pagan melodies and folk undertones, carving out a highly distinct and monumental style. The outfit is a two-time winner of the prestigious Norwegian Grammy Award (Spellemannprisen) for the best metal album of the year. The definitive releases in the band's discography include their landmark debut full-length "Mellom skogkledde aaser" (1997), as well as the critically acclaimed masterworks "Profan" (2015) and "Til Klovers Takt" (2022).
