Gehenna is a Norwegian band formed in 1993 in Stavanger. The group is rooted in black metal, at times incorporating symphonic black metal and later death metal influences. Early releases include the demo Black Seared Heart (1993) and EP Ancestor of the Darkly Sky (1993). Their debut album Seen Through the Veils of Darkness (The Second Spell) (1995) established them in the scene, followed by Malice (1996) with a harsher approach. Under Moonfog Productions they released Adimiron Black (1998) and Murder (2000), shifting towards death metal elements. Later albums WW (2005) and Unravel (2013) reaffirmed their commitment to extreme metal. Gehenna earned cult status for their atmospheric sound, dark lyrical themes, and role in shaping the Norwegian black metal movement.
