Depressive Silence is a German dungeon synth and dark ambient project formed in 1994 by musicians B. S. and Ral, who were also members of the black metal band Mightiest. The project became one of the key pioneers of the genre through the release of atmospheric cult demo tapes in the mid-1990s, with their 1996 release achieving particular acclaim. Their music combines medieval-inspired melodies, nostalgic synthesizer arrangements, and fantasy aesthetics, which significantly influenced the development of the entire scene.
