Darkwoods My Betrothed is a Finnish band formed in 1993 in Kitee (originally named Virgin’s Cunt). They play black metal, at times incorporating symphonic and viking metal elements. Their debut album Heirs of the Northstar (1995) mixed black metal with Viking aesthetics, while Autumn Roars Thunder (1996) returned to a faster, more aggressive style. The conceptual album Witch-Hunts (1998) solidified their place in the black metal scene. After a long hiatus, the band reunited in 2020 and released Angel of Carnage Unleashed (2021) via Napalm Records. Current lineup includes Pasi Kankkunen (vocals, guitar), Jouni Mikkonen (guitar), Teemu Kautonen (bass), with Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish, keyboards) and Kai Hahto (Nightwish, drums). Their lyrical themes revolve around anti-Christianity, Norse mythology, and historical imagery.
