Celestia is a French symphonic black metal band formed in 1995 in the city of Avignon by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Noktu. The outfit stands as one of the most prominent entities of the French black metal underground, blending raw, freezing fury with dark, aristocratic melancholy and ethereal keyboard arrangements. Their concept is heavily steeped in themes of necro-romanticism, death, and bleak poetry. Their discography includes numerous demos, splits, and albums such as Apparitia – Sumptuous Spectre (2002), Frigidiis Apotheosia: Abstinencia Genesiis (2008), and Archaenae Perfectii (2010). Celestia achieved cult status within the French black metal scene, leaving a lasting mark on the genre.
