Arcas was founded as an atmospheric black metal solo project by Enzo Bretschneider in Heidelberg, Germany, in 2021.

Influenced by artists such as Heretoir, Alcest, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Veldes and Kauan, Arcas' music aims to allow the listener to be distracted, experience beautiful landscapes and go on an emotional journey while listening. To this end, the songwriting focuses on the contrast of fast and heavy black metal parts on the one hand, and soft and melodic clean parts on the other.
