Ancient Wisdom is a Swedish black metal project formed in 1993 as the solo brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist Marcus E. Norman (also known under the moniker Vargher, renowned for his work with Bewitched, Naglfar, and Throne of Ahaz). The project attained cult status within the underground scene due to its sophisticated, somber, and deeply atmospheric delivery, blending classic Swedish black metal aggression with majestic, mournful keyboard orchestrations and dark ambient textures. The definitive records in the project's discography include the debut full-length album "For Snow Covered the Northland" (1996), the LP "...and the Physical Shape of Light Bled" (2000), "Cometh Doom, Cometh Death" (2004) and the striking comeback record "A Celebration in Honor of Death" (2021).
