Amesoeurs is a French post-black metal/post-punk project formed in 2004 by multi-instrumentalist and composer Neige (Alcest) and vocalist/basist Audrey Sylvain. The outfit attained cult status as one of the definitive pioneers of the blackgaze genre, masterfully blending the raw, cold atmosphere of black metal with the melancholic rhythms and aesthetics of post-punk and shoegaze. Their concept is deeply steeped in themes of urban depression, metropolitan alienation, and industrial decay. The band disbanded immediately after the release of their sole full-length record due to internal tensions. The definitive releases in the project's brief discography are their debut EP "Ruines Humaines" (2006) and their self-titled studio album "Amesoeurs" (2009), released via Code666 Records.
